Miami Events (WMC)

Where's my MOJITO?

Nermin

Cancelation of the Soul45 party and the backgrounds

Thanks to all of you for the good vibe you gave me since I announced this party a couple of weeks ago!

Unfortunately i have to cancel the event. What happened?

As I did it the last five years I started prepairing myself for the WMC. Did some new tracks and my partner Patrick came up with the idea finally to set up a label party for the WMC.He told me that he was in touch since the last WMC with a DJ who would help us to organize everything.
A lucky situation if you live overseas! So we fixed the contracts and paid an advance for the club.

After this I decided to register my self at the so called ESTA which is necessary for EU citizens (I´m german citizen) since january 12th to travel to the states within the waiver visa programm. I did the procedure and I was shocked: I was rejected - no permission to travel to the States! The only chance now was to apply for a regular business visa at the US embassy. The very friendly lady at the US embassy in Germany told me that I have to go through a special procedure which will take around 60 days before I will get a visa - bye bye Miami! And at the end the most likely won´t even get this visa.Later on I talked to some people working for german gouvernment and they confirmed the worst misgiving: I´m probably on a watchlist! Everybody who knows me would say that this is ridicolous -
after travelling for years to the States and not causing any troubles.

Nevertheless I decided to keep the party going - I had the best artists and it wasn´t about me.
Still a chance to promote soulful housemusic and our label.

Two weeks ago I received an email from the WMC office and they told me that they can´t reach anybody at the provided phone number of the club - it doesn´t exist.
Because they insisted on it I called my "friend" from Miami to give me an other number.
He gave me immediately a new number. I couldn´t proof it - nobody picked up the phone.
So I forwarded it to the WMC office.Next day they wrote me that they took the party off the list because I gave them the number of an other club....... lucky me.
Suddenly my so called friend was no longer available. he disappeared on skype , his email address stopped working and his phone is switched off since then.
yes - I was deceived.

the last five years Miami have been wonderful experiences, but this year it became a nightmare for me.

Because of the scheduled event a dozen of our friends are travelling to Miami from here.
Therefore if anyone is willing to give my partner Patrick Bo: an hour to play in Miami, I would be really thankful.

I wish I could celebrate with you the WMC after a new era has started -
So please do it for me!

Nermin

as you could read i stopped doing that and I offered him to solve the situation. nobody told him to bring his name and his "fire" to this place. the reactions have been that strong because that was his first sign after two weeks of hanging up the phone, deleting existing email accounts and blocking everybody on skype.you can believe me that I lost a lot of money and it looks like I can´t go to the WMC for minimum the next five years - for no reason (no files about me.....no problems.......nothing!). his behaviour has been driving us mad because we wasted a lot of time waiting to get answers for many questions, which held us off to find a new venue - and now it´s too late.
everybody likes to move on if it´s possible ;-)

yes keith, that´s probably what I will do - I will wait a few days. the predication to be a known name in the scene should come back like a boomerang to him.

you´re right guys -that´s a hard job. where are you guys from? stuttgart? Yes, we´re living in Stuttgart.
that´s not too far from my town ;)
Nermin, are you coming from Frankfurt/Mannheim? Maybe we can arrange a party/event here in (South or Middle) Germany? Best wishes, Christian & Jürgen.

Hey Nermin, so sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. Its a shame about people letting you down, believe me I've had my share of it. But you cannot let anyone or anything get in the way of your talent. I'm a fan of your work and most of all I regard you as a true friend in this industry. I met u in Miami WMC many years ago and have much respect for you ever since then. As for people fucking you around....well, I've learnt that the house music industry is small and many people know each other. Once someone gets a bad name the others will soon know about it and they can kiss their career in the industry goodbye. And a legend like Keith Thompson should not be treated in such a poor manner. People need to learn respect! Take care Nermin and please keep in touch. My thoughts are with you buddy. Much love from London UK. Amrick x

Heeeeeeeey Amrick! what a nice surprise :)

things are changing meanwhile - I have been really fighting.....and the good news are: ...no,no..the party won´t happen..... but I´m coming to Miami !! WHOO HOOOO!

there is still one thing to solve: have to get back my passport in time - but after all what happened I´m very optimistic :)

If someone knows a venue in Miami for thursday 26th for our party, let me know. A cooperation would be also a goof idea, because our party was well advertised and I´m still receiving many emails for RSVP.

now back home in summary the wmc 2009 was a very good experience. thanks to all the people that gave me so much support and respect. we decided to do our soul45 party without any promotion except the wmc list.
therefore I must say that a crowd of around 80 - 100 partypeople was a real success. some of them came from the objektivity party ( two blocks away) and told us that the atmosphere was similar with a smaller crowd :)

the negative thing was that erving batista aka dj erv, who owes us still a lot of money, kept on playing his games.he promised my partner to give him some money on sunday before we leave. nothing unexpected happened: on saturday and sunday he didn´t pick up the phone and didn´t respond to any text messages.
talking to the real manager of the club, we booked the venue for our party whithin minutes without any additional expenses.he told me that it never would have been a problem if someone did talk to him.
I will write more about it next week in a blog.

thanks to everybody that supported us so much - especially carolyn harding, victor simonelli, dawn tallman, eddie nicholas, amrick channa, mike clark, melvin geeks, gareth morgan, marcella, dj romain and paul james.
